One of the owners’ 5 year old son drew the OddBodd guy while we were in a meeting so we decided to keep him!
OddBodd was the childhood nickname of one of the owners of OddBodd.com coined from the British Horror spoof “Carry On Screaming”. We chose the name because it does not limit the applications we plan on adding to the service. (and we get to call him a funny name without risking losing our jobs!)
NO! This is only a demo site to give you a better idea of what we are creating as well as the interactivity and benefits that will be here when we launch. We thought this would be better than having a big "OddBodd.com - coming soon" sign on the front page! The quality and appearance of the entire site at launch will be MUCH better!
Will the quality of the video improve?
Absolutely. The video will be the same quality as the most popular video sites available today. Remember that what you see here is only to show what is coming, without which many people would not see what we are going to achieve. Please call us if you have additional questions about the quality of the end result. We are sure you will be very pleased with the end results and it will keep getting better as we develop the services and programming even more!
Two reasons. The first is that if you don’t, you might forget and you could lose business to a competitor who did register. Secondly, by referring other businesses in the meantime you can “earn” your monthly investment back before you have to start paying it and know that you will have an exciting and useful service essentially for free! We also encourage business owners and their employees to register as members and start referring their friends and other businesses to OddBodd.com. Remember, this is your way of supporting a safer, faster and more relevant search system and will ultimately help you get more customers!
AND...Because it makes sense! Where else can you get this much for your business for so little? AND have someone to help you through it all. We don't believe in hoping you use the service. Our job is to help you get the most out of it, and get the most business possible. That's why every business seen in OddBodd.com KNOWS they are here! Let's face it, $60 to try out the Job Posting, Events, Special Offers, access to videos or any of the other included (and upcoming) services for a whole year (or lifetime if you act now!) is well worth it. Many businesses have already registered knowing that they will be able to say that they were there from the start. You can be one of them. We also have numerous businesses calling us because they did not register when we first told them about OddBodd.com and want to make sure they are still one of the first 5000. When the first 5000 have registered, this will not be here any more either!
Also, your screen name will be very important in getting people to your BoddSite too. Now, while we do verify that the screen name matches the business (eg, a business with the name "Starbucks" could not register the screen name "peets" or "peetscoffee" because that would not be a part of their name.) There could be a business called "peets landscaping" who could take the name "peets" though! Screen names with OddBodd.com will be very important so if you did not get the domain name you wanted for your business, well, here's another chance!

No. The BoddGuides are business owners, much like a franchisee without the extra fees! They are people you will get to recognize in your community as YOUR BoddGuide, someone who is there to help YOU grow your business! When you meet your BoddGuide be nice to them! They are there to help your business grow both on and offline!
Can Network Marketing Independent reps use OddBodd.com
Yes! However, we do adhere to a strict policy of using the system to promote your product or service on your main BoddSite. OddBodd.com is a place where people can find products and services, just like the local directory, from the main search area. You may enter information indicating the ability to join the organization as a business in the "Other Info" section of your BoddSite and we will have a business opportunity section in JobBodd to advertise for team members for your organization. We will NOT allow videos explaining the business opportunity on your main BoddSite. Failure to meet these terms can result in immediate termination of your account with no refunds. Network marketing representatives can also use the VidBodd feature to showcase their products and services too. At no time will "recruiting" videos be allowed on OddBodd.com. OddBodd.com is first and foremost a business directory to show products, services and the people who represent their companies. Training videos WILL be allowed though and may be subject to approval by us. We reserve the right to block any MLM company that has multiple complaints or we feel is focused on recruiting agents more than delivering a quality product or service. IMPORTANT NOTE TO NETWORK MARKETERS
How do you plan on getting consumers to visit OddBodd.com?
“DRVN” (pronounced “Driven”) marketing! Direct Sales, Referrals, Viral marketing and Networking with professional business groups. Using a combination of effective marketing methods we have already experienced amazing results and interest. With our innovative setup, where you can access all you need from one screen, and with more services coming soon, every household that has a computer will have at least one reason to use OddBodd.com. In the US we also have a network of BoddGuides: Area consultants that bring a human touch, interaction and support to local businesses. They will check in from time to time to make sure you not only understand how to use OddBodd.com to get more customers but that you also use it regularly to increase visibility. They will also be promoting OddBodd.com through local events and other offline marketing methods like direct mail, trade shows, vehicles (think Geek Squad) and other means.
Every member also receives a membership card to encourage them to use OddBodd.com's member businesses and services. Businesses get a marketing kit when they register that includes additional marketing material both for window and vehicle display to encourage new and regular customers to put them in their favorites, give feedback and stay up to date. No! OddBodd.com is for businesses who either do not have a website and want a strong and professional internet presence as well as businesses who have a website. We encourage web designers to register with OddBodd.com and also use it as a cost effective extra tool and we even know some who will offer to maintain a customer's BoddSite along with their website. OddBodd.com gives you the ability to EASILY show what is happening at a moments notice as well as save money on other essential services. - No website needed!
How soon will the site be launching?
The Beta launch is planned for Mid 2008. We have a target number of businesses to register before we launch (there’s no point in going live if we don't have a reason for people to come back!)(Register Now!!!)
If I sign up now, when do I have to start paying the monthly membership?
A minimum of 2 months after you register (unless you are one of the First 5000, then you will never have any monthly fees) We do NOT automatically charge you either. When you set up your account you will be asked for the account information for the monthly membership fee. You will also get a notice before you have to pay anything else.
What happens after I register now?
You will already have your screen name so we recommend you start referring other local businesses and telling your customers about OddBodd.com and make sure you give them your Screen Name. You will receive an information packet and an email explaining how to set up your account, enter information, how to use the marketing material included and more. You will receive your information packet and set up email approximately 1 month before the beta launch. Once we launch, the information packet is sent out immediately.
Why aren’t you importing a list of businesses like every other company?
We have found a lot of information is incorrect and just as you would hate being called by the wrong name, so do businesses dislike being promoted with the wrong information. We want to make sure everything about your business is correct and the only person that can make that happen is you. We have also included a lot of additional features that a regular database cannot fill and these extras (no cost, of course!) will give you the ability to be found in a wider variety of situations, all relevant to what you are doing. Think of it like this: Most businesses need to pay for advertising in different industry sites, magazines and media to be found. We have a way to set up your account that will "pull" you into all of the categories you cater to automatically! (Register Now!)
If you think about it, many businesses have either increased sales or renewed their company's image by doing one thing: going back to basics. (yup, there's a lesson here too!) The only way we can be this efficient is to start from the beginning. Starting from nothing and building a database that is current, accurate, informative and designed the right way will expose your business to a wider audience without having to pay extra to be in all of those areas!
There are free sites out there that offer similar services, how does OddBodd.com differ?
None of the free sites that we have seen (and we've seen a lot!) offer the amount of features and interactivity that we include. They also will not have the offline marketing program that we are launching at the same time as the beta launch (information will be in your members packet) or BoddGuides to help you because they are free! We know most business owners do not have the time or resources to develop a GREAT online presence so we will be there to help if and when you need us. See what makes us different here
Oddbodd.com is also about accountability, both on a professional level and also for consumers. By having a membership driven system, we can reduce the anonymous, abusive and sometimes predatory behavior found on free sites. Will all of the features be available for the Beta launch?
We will be rolling out most of the services at Beta launch so as not to overwhelm people. Once you use OddBodd.com a few times you will realize how easy it is to use both for searches and to use for promoting your business. The services that do roll out will include the main listing, VidBodd and the consumer “BoddList” section. The other services will be integrated as soon as possible. We already have several other services planned for the future and will integrate them as soon as possible.
Can you name some companies who have already registered?
We have all kinds of businesses registered, from Insurance to Home based businesses, to cosmetic and skincare company representatives and music teachers. Professional services, insurance, telecommunications reps, entertainment, web design and more already see the benefits of registering now and being the first business in their area to benefit from our nationwide launch. Can you join our networking group so we can promote this with our members?
Individual BoddGuides are encouraged to join local networking groups and Chambers of Commerce to both support their community and help local businesses get more business both inside and outside of their immediate market. OddBodd.com is already a member of networking groups in the Chicago Area. Obviously it would be impossible for us to join every group so feel free to promote the benefits of OddBodd.com to your group. We're sure they will appreciate you trying to help them get more affordable advertising!
Do not let our lack of local presence stop you and your members from benefitting now! Videos will be easy to upload and we will have representatives able to help you until we get a local BoddGuide in your area.
I do not know web design, can I use this?
Absolutely!! OddBodd.com was designed for the local business owner who can only spare 5 minutes a day promoting their business online. Many business owners cannot afford to spend more time than that and most cannot afford to pay a full time web designer and promoter to do what OddBodd.com achieves with a few clicks. This is an especially helpful system for locations that like to change their daily events and cannot access a corporate site. Of course, if you do know web design or have a detailed website this could help you be found faster and give potential clients more of a personal view of you and your business.
Local BoddGuides will also be available to help you understand how to benefit from the many included services too should you need them.
Why can't we search the site now for businesses?
We have seen other businesses launch with nothing to look at and so their "hit" rate has declined. We knew it would be best to allow businesses to register before we launch so when we do, visitors will have a reason to come back again! See some of the businesses who have already registered on their Sample BoddSites.
No. Although it will probably help if visitors can meet the person they will be doing business with. Even restaurants can do a video of the staff to show the atmosphere and the people working there! It also depends on your business. Some franchise companies are using corporate videos, others are doing their own. The key thing to remember with the videos is that consumers not only want to know about your company, they also want to SEE who they will be working with. If you are not photogenic or don't like the idea of being in a video, take a few photos of your product and service and narrate an explanation over the top. Most computers have basic video editing software, like windows moviemaker, that make this very easy. Your BoddGuide will be able to help you understand your options better too.
Do I need an expensive video camera?
No. If you have a digital camera with video capabilities you can shoot a video with enough quality to put on OddBodd.com. Your local BoddGuide (as we develop them across the country) will also be able to help you. Once we know we have a BoddGuide in your area you will receive an email with their name, contact information and BoddSite link. We are also encouraging videographers to register with OddBodd.com so we can refer businesses to them who prefer to have a more professional video developed for their business.
What about Compliance issues with my company?
We take compliance issues very seriously. We have strict terms to ensure the quality of the video and content is professional and relevant to the business. That is one of the reasons we have the BoddGuides, so they can help their local businesses maintain the correct professional image. As far as compliance concerns, especially with Finance, Insurance and direct sales companies, we recommend you contact your company and submit a simple script that introduces you, explains the basic facts of your company and how to get in touch with you. You will need to submit a copy of any disclaimers required by the company, whether legally or company mandated, to us so we can post them in the disclaimer section of your BoddSite. To help expedite the compliance process, please send us the name and email address and phone number of your compliance department and we will personally contact them to see if they have any additional requirements.
Once a company submits their script and disclaimer requirements to us, we will make those terms available to the BoddGuides to help you. If any company deems that a representative is not meeting compliance terms we will deactivate the BoddSite and contact them to help them understand what their company needs for it to be reinstated. We do not want anyone to get in trouble with their company! We have several companies who have already submitted compliance terms to us based on our contacting them and allow their representatives to advertise with OddBodd.com as long as they meet those requirements.
